Performance

The choice to invest time, effort, and money into something is a choice all of us have made. Melee focuses on the investment I have made into the video game Super Smash Brothers Melee as a competitive hobby, and how that has impacted me. I play two games over the course of this performance, one against an anonymous opponent online, and one against an audience volunteer. One game focuses a camera on my hands, the other game focuses on the faces of my opponent and I. Through this performance, I ask myself: was the investment worth it? What was the point?
